About

Hello, I’m Briony, a qualified and compassionate therapist and founder of Good Things Therapy & Wellbeing. I work with adults and young people who want to feel calmer, more connected, and more in control of their emotional world. My approach is warm, grounded, and rooted in evidence-based practice — offering a safe, supportive space for healing, reflection, and positive change.

As a Children’s Therapist in Manchester and an integrative practitioner, I tailor therapy to each individual, ensuring sessions meet your unique needs, experiences, and goals.

My Qualifications & Professional Background

I hold:

  • BSc in Criminological & Forensic Psychology

  • MSc in Positive Psychology

  • PGDip in Evidence-Based Psychological Therapies for Children & Young People

Before becoming a therapist, I worked within the criminal justice system, supporting vulnerable men, women and children to rebuild their lives, develop healthier patterns, and create safer, more fulfilling futures. This experience deeply shaped my therapeutic style — giving me a strong understanding of trauma, resilience, attachment, and the courage it takes to step into change.

My Approach

I am trained in a range of therapeutic modalities, including:

  • CBT

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing)

  • Talking Therapy

  • Solution Focused Therapy

  • DDP (L1 & L2)

  • Theraplay (L1)

  • Positive Psychology

This allows me to take an integrative and flexible approach, supporting clients seeking short-term, focused work as well as those wanting deeper, long-term exploratory therapy.

What I Support With

I work with adults and young people experiencing:

  • Anxiety, stress and emotional overwhelm

  • Low mood or loss of motivation

  • Attachment and relationship difficulties

  • Low self-esteem and people-pleasing patterns

  • Phobias and panic

  • Trauma, childhood experiences and complex PTSD

  • Feeling lost, stuck or disconnected

  • Behavioural or emotional challenges in children and adolescents

As a Complex Trauma Therapist in Manchester, my work often explores the deeper roots of emotional patterns — supporting individuals to heal at a pace that feels safe.

EMDR Therapy Manchester

I offer EMDR therapy in Manchester, a highly effective approach for trauma, PTSD and distressing life experiences. EMDR helps the brain process “stuck” memories so they can be stored in a healthier, less overwhelming way. Over time, it reduces emotional intensity and supports a greater sense of calm, clarity and control.

Short-Term, Long-Term & Exploratory Therapy

Depending on your goals, therapy may look like:

  • Short-term, goal-focused sessions (6–8 sessions) for specific concerns

  • Long-term exploratory therapy for deeper work around attachment, identity, trauma and relationships

  • Child and adolescent therapy using developmentally appropriate approaches, including playful and attachment-informed methods

My aim is always to create a space where you feel understood, respected, and free to explore whatever you’re facing — without judgement or pressure.

Why I Do This Work

Therapy changes lives. I’ve seen it, lived it, and believe deeply in people’s capacity to heal. My passion lies in helping others find the safety, stability and self-understanding they need to move forward. It’s a privilege to walk alongside individuals and families as they build healthier emotional foundations and reclaim their sense of wellbeing.
